jen- You are right. The big celebration comes on the night of the 5th but as soon as Sinterklaas arrives in town, children can leave their shoes out to be filled anytime (and all the time). Andrew got a special delivery today when Sint stopped by and left a package on our front door for him. Lucky kid.
sprite- I am pretty sure it IS all about you. Don't let yourself be talked out of that idea!
gb- Yes, can you believe it? After the Sint arrives it's legal to put your shoes out EVERY night until the 5th. That doesn't happen in this house, but we do like to sneak in a few shoe-by-the-fireplace-nights between the middle of November and the 5th of December!
I got to put my shoe by the fireplace every saturday between the arrival and our celebration of Sinterklaas (that didn't always coincide). How sweet does Andrew look! The look on his face: Is this for ME?
The story begins like this: A couple of years ago my husband got a crazy notion in his head that returning to school after years in the professional world might be a good idea. So he and I along with our three children left our suburban life in the U.S. and traded it for a new adventure in The Netherlands.
The saga continues like this:
A year of post graduate study was so much fun, we figured we'd stay a while longer. Working in a new field, attending new schools and living in a new city, I dare say we have settled into a rhythm in our expat lives.
This blog is the record I keep of our experiences here; good, bad and hilarious. Intended as an outlet for my expression, this is the place for me to say my something.
I love his expressions! happy ww to you...
